Choreography

At Forte Stage Combat, we take pride in collaborating with educational theaters. Over our extensive experience, we have refined our approach to accommodate the time constraints commonly faced by scholastic theater productions. We are adept at imparting fundamental techniques, specific weapon styles, and choreographing safe and visually captivating fights within a timely and professional manner.

When is a choreographer necessary? Certain plays, such as She Kills Monsters, Romeo and Juliet, and West Side Story, inherently require fight choreography. However, sword fights and brawls are not the sole instances where a choreographer’s expertise is essential. Door-slamming farces, exemplified by the works of Neil Simon, Alan Ayckbourn, and others, abound with pratfalls, slaps, and hi jinx that, for the safety of your students, necessitate the guidance of a choreographer. Acknowledging the budgetary limitations faced by academic theater, we propose a Slapstick Package priced at $150. This package is designed for shows that do not involve traditional fights but still require some guidance in executing slapstick routines.

Our pricing for (traditional combat shows) is dependent on three variables: number of fights, number of combatants and travel (does not apply to productions in Chicagoland). Unarmed Workshop

$200

In our Unarmed Workshop, our primary objective is to impart stage falls, slaps, punches, and other essential techniques to students. We firmly believe that the skills acquired in this workshop serve as a fundamental foundation for all actors. This is because not all plays incorporate swordplay; the majority of dramatic literature necessitates the inclusion of falls, tussles, and other less explicit elements of stage combat.

This workshop is 2 1/2 hours of instruction. We can either hold the workshop on the weekend or the during the week after school.

We provide the necessary instructions. All we require from you is a suitable workspace. Your school’s theater is an excellent option, but we have successfully conducted these workshops in various spaces, including cafeterias, gymnasiums, and choir rooms. Rapier Workshop

$400 weapons included

In our Rapier Workshop, students will receive comprehensive instruction in footwork, cuts, parries, and basic combat techniques over a span of five hours.

We provide two scheduling options: a 5-1/2 hour workshop, typically held on a weekend, the extra half hour is for a lunch break. Or two 2-1/2 hour workshops, usually scheduled after school during the week.

We provide the necessary weapons and instructions. All we require from you is a suitable workspace. Your school’s theater is an excellent option, but we have successfully conducted these workshops in various spaces, including cafeterias, gymnasiums, and choir rooms. However, it is essential to ensure that the floor is clear of chairs and tables.
